Renault Kwid vs Hyundai Eon Comparo
The latest in the entry level car segment is the Renault Kwid. The stylish looking cross-over like hatch has set a new benchmark in terms of booking.
In an earlier comparison, we saw how it fairs against the market leader in this segment, and also the best selling car in India, the Maruti Suzuki Alto.

Now, let's take a look at how the Kwid compares to the Hyundai Eon, in terms of styling, features, price and performance.
Pricing:
- Renault Kwid: Prices start from INR 2.56 lakh onwards
- Hyundai Eon: Prices start from INR 3.11 lakh onwards

Design:
The
Renault
Kwid
sports
a
bold,
SUV-ish
design
and
stance,
which
is
something
new
in
this
segment.
The
front
fascia
of
the
quid
sports
a
cain-like
grille
that
blends
neatly
into
the
headlights,
making
it
a
very
good
looking
vehicle.
The
Kwid
has
a
high
stance
as
well.
The Hyundai Eon features a much smaller grille up front and the swept back headlamps give the car a more sporty look. The flowing lines on the side of the car and the sloping roof makes it an unmistakable Hyundai design.

wheels
and
a
very
impressive
ground
clearance
of

as
standard,
while
the
top
of
the
line
variant
(RXT)
comes
with
power
windows,
2-DIN
audio

seven-inch
touch
screen
navigation
system
and
a
four-way
adjustable
driver's
seat.
The Eon comes with features such as a three barrel design instrument cluster, power windows, keyless entry and a 2-DIN audio system in its top trim level. Other conveniences available are tilt steering, gear shift indicator and dual trip meter.

The Hyundai Eon is powered by 814cc, three cylinder petrol engine that produces 55 bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. For those looking for a bit more power, the Eon is offered with a 998cc, three cylinder engine that makes 68 bhp. This too is mated to a five-speed gearbox. There is an LPG option as well.

Eon

the

Verdict:
This
is
a
tough
choice.
The
Eon
is
equipped
with
a
powerful
engine
and
more
features
when
compared.
All
this
also
comes
at
a
relatively
higher
cost.
If
one
is
looking
for
a
car
in
this
segment,
the
Renault
Kwid
is
the
better
choice
if
budget
is
your
concern.
It
offers
better
mileage,
boot
space
of
300-litres
and
very
good
ground
clearance.
The
Eon
is
not
far
behind
though,
price
being
a
little
hinderance.
