Maruti Vitara Brezza: Some Of The Pros & Cons
Maruti might be late in the game of compact SUV, however, they have shaken the market with the launch of the Vitara Brezza. Is it worth the buy? Let us look into some of the pros and cons on the exciting looking Vitara Brezza.
Disadvantages Or Cons
The Brezza comes only in the diesel engine and there is no petrol engine. Although Maruti could add the petrol model in the future, it could turn away some of you looking for an petrol SUV.
Features of the Vitara Brezza is sorely missed especially in the entry level variants, only the top most variant (ZDi & ZDi+) boasts of all the features that the Brezza is known for. Also, a lot of features when compared to the lower priced Maruti Baleno, is not offered on the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
To list out the features are the Bi-Xenon lamps which are featured in the Baleno, is not seen on the Brezza. Some of the disadvantages of the Brezza are the missing telescopic steering wheel, no auto dimming IRVM and no leather steering which are seen in the lower priced Maruti Baleno.
The dual tone colour option which is one of the main features of the Brezza is available only in the ZDi+ variant. Also, the S-Cross - which shares the same engine specifications - gets four disc brakes, however, the Brezza misses out on this feature.
Cabin layout of the Vitara Brezza is user-friendly and well engineered, however, the looks of the SUV are a tad lower when compared to the Ford EcoSport. Another miss is the leather seats which is not available in any of the variants, unlike the Ford EcoSport.
The boot space of 328 litres is the lowest in its segment, it could hamper your travelling needs because of the lesser boot space.
Advantages Or Pros
Advantages of the Maruti Vitara Brezza is its exterior look, it looks fantastic, it's clean and proportionate in its design language. The Brezza does not look like a bloated compact car, it looks more of an SUV.
Another prominent advantage of the Maruti Vitara Brezza is the AMT gearbox. The diesel engine now comes with a 5-speed AMT gearbox which makes it easier to drive in city conditions.
The pricing of the Vitara Brezza is the best in its segment, also, the dual tone colour option makes it look more of an SUV than a compact car. Even the cabin is well laid out and space in terms of seating is good for a family.
On the safety front, Maruti Vitara Brezza advantages are the standard airbag for the driver and the optional passenger airbags, and ABS with EBD on all the variants which are the best in the segment.
The electrically adjustable ORVMs are standard across variants, this sets the pace for the SUV segment. Also, it boasts of Bluetooth connectivity and four speakers from the base variant of the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
Even though the projector headlamps are seen in the top variant of the Maruti Brezza, this is not seen any of the competitors like the Ford EcoSport or the Mahindra TUV300.

The sub-four compact SUV is loaded with features in the top of the variant for the Vitara Brezza. Dual tone colours, standard driver airbags across variants, projector headlamps and most importantly the design of the SUV, which is best in its segment.
Apart from the Vitara Brezza's unique features, it also comes with automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start, automatic climate control, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by a diesel-only engine, which is a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, DDiS engine. This engine punches out 89bhp at 4000rpm and torque of 200Nm at 1750rpm, this is mated to the 5-speed manual transmission with a fuel tank capacity of 48 litres. The mileage of the Maruti Vitara Brezza is certified by ARAI of 24.3 km/l and is BSIV ready.
Verdict
The pros or the advantages of the Maruti Vitara Brezza outweighs the cons or the disadvantages of the sub-four compact SUV. The Vitara Brezza is a well-designed SUV with best of safety and features.
