There is a radical change in the design compared to the outgoing model. The new Rio features visibly smooth surfaces, sharper detailing, thinner and shorter tiger nose grille and reshaped headlights with U-shaped LED lighting. Rear tail light also gets new arrow-shaped LED lights.
Coming to the engine department, Kia Rio will be available in both petrol and diesel. The 1-litre petrol engine with turbocharger is available in 99bhp and 118bhp power band.
The two other naturally aspirated petrol mills of capacity 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre which produces 83bhp and 99bhp are also available. The emission figures are yet to be revealed.
Those who opt for the diesel variant, the Rio will come with 1.4-litre engine which produces 69bhp or 89bhp. It is said that this is the lowest emitting engine in the lineup. Kia claims that the driveability has been improved due to stiffer body shell and improved suspension.
The Rio's interior features a step up in overall built quality. The instrument panel comes with five-inch floating touchscreen, the infotainment system is equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The upholstery comprises of black or grey artificial leather and black and red artificial leather seats.
This new model will be Kia's prominent offering as this is the best-selling car for the firm. The car will go on sale in the first quarter of 2017 in the UK.
