2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show: New Ducati Monster 1200 Unveiled
Ducati has revealed the updated Monster 1200 with a redesigned sports-style tail, new headlight and electronics derived from the 1299 Panigale.
Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the 2017 Monster 1200 and 1200 S at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy
Powering the updated Monster 1200 is a 11 degree, 1198cc L-Twin engine producing 148bhp and 126.2Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch function. The 1200 S gets a quick-shifter for faster up and down shifts.
The Monster 1200 features a trellis frame and a single sided swingarm made from cast aluminium. The Monster 1200S has a wheelbase of 1,485mm and the seat height can be adjusted between 795 to 820mm.
Up front the Monster 1200 features a fully adjustable 43mm Kayaba fork while at the rear there is a Sachs monoshock with spring preload and rebound damping.
The 1200 S features an upgraded 48mm front forks from Ohlins, while at the rear, the Sachs monoshock makes way for a fully adjustable unit from Ohlins.
Braking duties on the Monster 1200 are handled by twin 320 mm in diameter with Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers while at the rear, there is a single 245mm disc brake.
On the S variant, the front brakes have been upgraded to 330mm dual discs with Brembo's M50 monoblock caliper from the 1299 Panigale.
With regards to the wheels and tyres the Monster 1200 features 10-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels while the S variant features three Y-spoke wheels with ‘S' graphics.
Both sets of wheels are fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres - 120/70 front and 190/55 at the rear.
Design wise, the new Monster 1200 features a new headlight with LED daytime running lights along with a slimmed down fuel tank and redesigned sports bike style rear end.
The 1200S gets Ducati's whole host of safety features from the 1299 Panigale including cornering ABS,Ducati Wheelie Control and multiple riding modes.

Speaking of colours, the Monster 1200 will be available in Red, while the 1200 S will be available in Red and Liquid Concrete Gray.
