2017 Geneva Motor Show: Toyota Yaris GRMN Revealed
The Toyota Yaris GRMN hot hatchback has debuted at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a supercharged engine.
The Toyota Yaris GRMN hot hatchback has made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The new Toyota Yaris GRMN is the latest hot hatch from Toyota's Gazoo Racing division.
Powering the Yaris GRMN is a rather unusual engine. What makes the 1.8-litre inline four cylinder engine different from the engines powering other hot hatchbacks is the fact it uses a supercharger instead of a turbocharger.
Toyota has confirmed that the supercharged 1.8-litre on the Yaris GRMN will produce more than 205bhp and promises "best-in-class times both for the sprint from nought to 62mph (100km/h) and acceleration from 50 to 75mph (80-115km/h) in fourth gear."
The three-door Yaris GRMN adopts the Toyota Aygo's manga inspired X-shaped front grille and sports red and black graphics its sides. The Toyota Yaris GRMN sits on black coloured alloy wheels and features a black roof-mounted spoiler and a large central exhaust.
The Toyota Yaris GRMN will go on sale in early 2018 and will rival the likes of the Ford Fiesta ST and the Volkswagen Polo GTI.
