2017 Geneva Motor Show: Pirelli Shows Off Coloured And 'Smart Tyres'
Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has revealed the coloured and smart tyres at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The innovative technology is available with Pirelli P Zero and Winter Sottozero tyres.
Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has unveiled its two innovations at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The coloured and smart tyres are the latest offerings from the tyre firm.
The Pirelli coloured tyres were created to meet the demand of personalisation from the customers. Engineers at Pirelli have developed innovative materials and protection system to make sure that the colour remains vivid and durable.
The coloured option is available with the Pirelli P Zero and Winter Sottozero tyres. Initially, Pirelli will offer four base colours - red, yellow, white, and silver. However, if a customer demands any other colour, the request will be catered.
Pirelli is the official tyre supplier for Formula 1, where coloured tyres are used to identify different compounds. The company is benefitted from the knowledge gained on track and implemented on its innovation.
The second innovation is the Pirelli Connesso, a smart tyre. An integrated sensor on the inner wall of the tyre relays information on how the tyre is working to a dedicated application.
Pirelli states that the sensor's weight is negligible and has no impact on the performance of the tyre. The Pirelli Cloud platform supports the relay of data from the sensor to an app.
The Connesso can arrange new tyres or maintenance where the car is parked when a drop in tyre pressure is detected by the sensor. The Connesso system is available for Pirelli P Zero and Winter Sottozero tyres.
McLaren revealed the 720S at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The car is equipped with the Pirelli P Zero tyres, so the customers can avail the coloured and smart tyres from Pirelli. Below is the detailed photo gallery of the 720S.
