2017 Geneva Motor Show: Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet Makes Global Debut
The petrol line-up starts with E 200 Cabriolet powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 181bhp.
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2018 E-Class Cabriolet at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The new model will join the recently unveiled 2017 E-Class Coupe in the E-Class family. The new soft-top four-door car is available for the first time with 4MATIC four-wheel-drive.
The E-Class Cabriolet is based on the MRA platform, which is shared with the saloon. The new convertible is larger than the outgoing model. Regarding dimension, it comes in at 4,826 mm long, 1,860mm wide, and 1,428mm tall.
Mercedes says that a mixture of aluminum and steel has been used for the construction of the E-Class and the structures at the front and the floor have been made extra stiff. The company also says that the soft top has been derived from the S-Class Cabriolet and can be opened or retracted in 20 seconds when traveling at speeds up to nearly 50 kmph.
The petrol line-up starts with E 200 Cabriolet powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 181bhp. It is joined by the E 300 Cabriolet running the same turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder as the E 200 Cabriolet tuned to a 242bhp.
There is also a 3.0-litre Bi-Turbo V6 engine that cranks out 328bhp of power and comes paired to the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. The power is sent either to the rear wheels or all wheels with a 4MATIC four-wheel drive.
The 2018 E-Class has the same interior as the latest E-Class Coupe. The interior also features some exclusive touches, including newly designed turbine style air cons, automatically extending feeder arms, for the front seatbelts, unique open pore wood trims and heat-reflecting leathers in five different colours.
