2017 Geneva Motor Show: Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept Revealed; Previews Next-Gen Hydrogen SUV
The Geneva Motor Show Hyundai FE concept previews a hydrogen fuel-cell SUV arriving in 2018
Hyundai has revealed the FE Fuel Cell Concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept SUV previews the next-generation Hydrogen fuel cell SUV from the Korean manufacturer which is due in 2018.
The Hyundai FE (short for Future Eco) Fuel Cell show car's fuel cell has a claimed range of 800 kilometres between trips to the hydrogen pumps. Compared to current hydrogen fuel cell setup on the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell SUV, the concept's fuel cell stack is 20 percent lighter and 10 percent more efficient and is 30 percent more power dense as well.
The FE concept recycles some of the water emitted by the FE's fuel cell as an air humidifier to improve the cabin environment. Also present are portable battery packs that can be used to charge mobile phones and laptops used by its passengers.
Regarding design, the Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept sports sleek headlights and taillights, a sloping roof and dual displays inside the lit up interiors which are as blue as they come.
The boot host a charging port for an electric scooter along with integrated storage.
The production SUV based on the Hyundai FE Fuel Cell Concept will be one of 14 eco-cars - five hybrids, four plug-in hybrids, four electric cars and the fuel-cell vehicle - that Hyundai plans to launch by 2020.
