Yamaha M-Slaz Could Make Indian Debut At 2016 Auto Expo
Yamaha Motors India is most likely to debut several new products at the 2016 Auto Expo. There is a high possibility that the M-Slaz will make its Indian debut at the motor show in Delhi. The naked street fighter bike could be rebadged for the Indian market.
Currently, the M-Slaz is sold in Thailand and is expected to be offered in several neighbouring markets. In Thailand, the M-Slaz by Yamaha is powered by the same engine that does duty in the YZF-R15. For India, however, there is a possibility of a bigger displacement engine for added value.
In India, the M-Slaz could be rebadged as an MT model. The engine displacement could bridge the gap between their 150cc and its 321cc motorcycle. Yamaha could provide either a 200cc or 250cc engine developed from their YZF-R15 engine.
Several components will be shared between the M-Slaz and YZF-R15. Yamaha will continue using the same Deltabox chassis for superior handling ability. Brakes, exhaust, alloy wheels, and several other minor components will be carried forward as well to keep costs in check.
The new M-Slaz for the Indian market will be manufactured by Yamaha at its Indian facility. Pricing as always will be key to the motorcycles success. Unfortunately, Yamaha India is not known to price its products aggressively and could opt for a premium price tag.
