Volkswagen Polo GTI Indian Debut Most Likely At 2016 Auto Expo

Volkswagen India recently confirmed to us that the manufacturer would be showcasing three new products. For the 2016 Auto Expo, Volkswagen will be unveiling its Ameo compact sedan, Tiguan premium SUV, and the Passat GTE plug-in hybrid.

The German automobile manufacturer could also introduce its all-new Polo GTI model. Volkswagen has commenced testing of the performance hatchback on Indian roads. The Polo GTI is performing frequent road tests around VW India's facility at Chakan, Pune.

Under the hood of Volkswagen Polo GTI will be a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine. The engine will produce 189.30bhp and 320Nm of peak torque output. Volkswagen will pair the Polo GTI engine with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, unfortunately, a manual transmission would not be on offer.

The Polo GTI will boast top speed figures of 236 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. Volkswagen claims that their performance hatchback will deliver a fuel economy of 8.85 km/l. These figures will surely fluctuate depending on driving styles.

Expect the Polo GTI to be priced as a premium performance hatchback in India. Volkswagen will be introducing the Polo GTI as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) model with an estimated price tag of Rs. 20 lakh plus ex-showroom.
