UM Motorcycle To Launch Renegade Cruiser Motorcycles At 2016 Auto Expo
UM Motorcycles will be introducing its range of cruiser motorcycles in India during the 2016 Auto Expo, which will be held in Delhi. Currently, UM Motorcycles has teamed up with Lohia Auto for local production of the two-wheelers. This is sure to help them in pricing their products attractively.
Manufacturing of UM Motorcycles has commenced at Lohia Auto's facility. They are utilising Lohia Auto's manufacturing unit situated in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. UM Motorcycles will make India its global export hub and will build motorcycles with Lohia Auto for export markets.
The cruiser motorcycles are expected to sport 300cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engines. Performance figures have not been revealed so far and will be done at a date closer to launch. UM Motorcycles will use one common engine across its range and could tune them differently for each model.
UM Motorcycles will introduce the Renegade range of cruiser motorcycles. The range will consist of Renegade Classic and Renegade Sport. The Classic cruisers will sport typical retro American cruising motorcycle design. On the other hand, Sport model will get a design that attracts younger buyers.
Both Renegade Classic and Renegade Sport will compete with Royal Enfield's 350cc range in India. To an extent, they will also have to compete with newly launched Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise and 220 Street. UM Motorcycles will have to be spot-on with the pricing of both models.
Previously, UM Motorcycles had showcased its cruiser motorcycles at 2014 Auto Expo. Back then, they had planned to introduce their models in India within the next year, however, partnering with Lohia Auto will benefit them domestically, owing to the local assembly.
