Tata Zica Compact Sedan To Debut At 2016 Auto Expo
Tata Motors has several interesting products to be showcased at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. An all-new compact sedan based on the Zica model will be making its debut at the motor show. The new compact sedan is most likely to be called Sway and will be introduced in several markets.
Under the hood of Tata's new compact sedan will be a three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.05-litre diesel engine. These are the same engines that will do duty in the Zica hatchback that is scheduled to launch sometime during February 2016. Initially, both engine will be paired only to manual transmissions and AMT is an option for the future.
In terms of design, Zica hatchback and compact sedan will share several components. Tata Motors plan on providing the largest boot space in their Zica compact sedan. Expect competitive pricing for both models owing to extensive use of component sharing between the hatchback and the compact sedan.
Currently, Tata Motors Zica compact sedan will enter a tough market in the country. Maruti Suzuki's Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Toyota Etios, Ford Figo Aspire, and the soon to be launched VW Ameo compact sedans. Pricing will be key if Tata plans to make maximum sales in the competitive segment.
