Nissan has been contemplating on getting the X-Trail SUV to India once again. The Japanese manufacturer had discontinued the SUV earlier, owing to low sales. Now, the manufacturer is confident on bringing its latest version of X-Trail back to Indian shores.
Surprisingly, Nissan will be introducing the new X-Trail only as a hybrid version. The launch of Nissan's premium SUV will take place sometime during 2016.
New X-Trail's design has been inspired by several of their other models. The Qashqai and Juke have provided most of the design elements to the new X-Trail. Nissan has developed the new X-Trail on their CMF platform, which was jointly developed by Renault-Nissan Alliance.
Under the hood will be a 2.0-litre petrol engine, combined with an electric motor. Both petrol and electric motor deliver combined performance of 179bhp. Nissan will also be equipping their SUV with the all-new electronic four-wheel drive system.
Currently, Nissan will be importing the X-Trail to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The X-Trail hybrid will also benefit from the FAME Scheme offered by the Indian Government. Nissan's all-new hybrid SUV is most likely to bear a price tag of Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh ex-showroom.
