Maruti WagonR 7-Seater Could Be Revealed At 2016 Auto Expo
Maruti Suzuki is most likely to be showcasing its WagonR 7-seater at the 2016 Auto Expo. Previously, WagonR 7-seater was showcased at the 2013 Indonesia Motor Show. The model is based on an extended version of its hatchback model currently on sale in several markets.
The WagonR 7-seater will be powered with both petrol and diesel engine options. Maruti Suzuki could utilise the same engine that does duty in its Celerio hatchback. The 7-seater WagonR will be equipped with a 5-speed manual and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option.
Launch date of Maruti Suzuki's WagonR 7-seater has not been revealed. The manufacturer has already imported the model to India, so they can tune it for Indian road conditions. The WagonR MPV will be slotted between Maruti Suzuki's Eeco and Ertiga models in India.
Currently, there is only one product in the compact MPV segment. Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-seater will take on Datsun's Go+ model. Both products are extended versions of a hatchback with 7-seating options. Expect a minor bump in price for WagonR's 7-seater of Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 70,000 over the regular model.
Maruti Suzuki could most likely introduce the WagonR 7-seater by mid-2016. The manufacturer will debut the MPV in India at 2016 Auto Expo prior to its launch. WagonR 7-seater by Maruti Suzuki will be an all-new sub 4-metre product for the Indian market.
