Jeep Renegade Compact SUV To Debut At 2016 Auto Expo
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) owns the Jeep brand and will be introducing it in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Jeep brand has been trying to make an entry into the country for a while now. At the upcoming Auto Expo in Delhi, the Renegade will be marking its Indian debut.
Jeep has recently imported its compact SUV the Renegade into India. The model will not go on sale in India anytime soon. FCA plans to launch the Renegade in the country, not before 2017. The target audience with this compact SUV will be young and Jeep enthusiasts.
The imported Jeep Renegade has a 2.0-litre, turbocharged MJD 2 diesel engine under the hood. No manual transmission option is expected and Jeep is likely to pair the engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Performance figures for Indian model could differ from the international spec.
Exterior styling and design of Jeep Renegade will be unique. Designers have borrowed elements from existing models to provide the compact SUV with a sense of familiarity. Overall the vehicle looks like an urban compact SUV with smooth styling features.
Apart from the Renegade, Jeep will also showcase a few other models at 2016 Auto Expo. The Wrangler and the Cherokee SUVs will be on display at FCA stands. So far, there is no news as to when Jeep would introduce either of the models for the Indian market, a better picture is expected at the Auto Expo.
