Ford Mustang Set For Indian Debut At 2016 Auto Expo
Several manufacturers are gearing up for the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Ford was last year importing their iconic muscle car into the Indian market. At that point, it was unclear if the manufacturer was bringing its Mustang to India for sale or to explore other options.
Now, Ford will debut the Mustang in India at the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo. Internationally, the muscle car made its debut back in 2014 and was radically updated from its predecessor. The American automobile giant provided the update as the Mustang celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
The Mustang will be a direct import by Ford for the Indian market as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). Internationally Ford offers several engine options, however, the Indian market is expected to receive only the top-spec engine initially.
Under the hood of Ford's Mustang for India will be a 5.0-litre, V8 petrol engine. The muscle car will boast of 437bhp and the engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Ford will be providing a right-hand drive Mustang for ease of driving on Indian roads.
At this point, Ford India has not confirmed a launch date, however, the Mustang will make its presence felt at 2016 Auto Expo. We expect the base variant of Ford's Mustang to be priced around Rs. 50 lakh ex-showroom.
