Ford Kuga Most Likely To Be Showcased At 2016 Auto Expo

Ford India is most likely to showcase an all-new SUV model at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Kuga SUV was recently imported to India for R&D purposes by Ford. Now, there is a high possibility that the American manufacturer could showcase the SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo.

The Kuga is currently on offer in several international markets. Ford provides the SUV with a 2.0-litre diesel and a 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine. Currently, it is unknown which engine option could be provided for the Indian market.

In international markets, Ford Kuga's engine is paired to an optional 6-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Ford also offers All-Wheel Drive (AWD) as well as the conventional front-wheel drive system in the SUV.

Ford's Kuga, if launched in India, will be placed above their EcoSport compact SUV and below the all-new Endeavour premium SUV. The Kuga will compete against the likes of Mahindra XUV5OO and Tata Hexa. In terms of size, the Ford Kuga will be slightly longer than the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, and the Hyundai Creta.

The Kuga SUV by Ford will be imported to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit. Ford could also explore the option of local manufacture of several components to keep costs in check. The base variant of the Ford Kuga could be priced at Rs. 12.5 lakh ex-showroom.
