Best Bikes We Found At Auto Expo 2016
The Auto Expo 2016 has unveiled some of the most anticipated two-wheelers, be it performance, premium or even the cruisers, the expo did not disappoint.
Let's take a look at the list below for better analysis:
Performance
One of the most awaited and performance oriented motorbikes were the DSK Benelli 302 and the TVS manufactured BMW Motorrad G310R.
Benelli has been wooing the Indian motorcycle riders with its superb engineering, the Tornado 302 which the fully-faired variant of its sibling, the TNT 300 and the Tornado could be named Tornado 300 in India.
The Tornado will be powered by 300cc engine, punching it with 35bhp @12,000rpm, the company claims it can reach 0-60 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. The bike will be pitted against KTM's RC390 and this segment is getting exciting as ever.
BMW Motorrad will be manufacturing the G310R with its partner, TVS Motor Company, and will be sold in the world market. The G310R comes with a 313cc engine, pushing 33.6bhp @9,500rpm, the torque is slightly better which could help in its power while throwing the bike during cornering.
The G310R might be followed by a fully-faired or even the GS adventure variants in the future. BMW Motorrad is betting big with its entry into the ever demanding Indian market.
Premium
Triumph unveiled its new range of Bonneville's, they have brought in the next-generation engines which are more powerful in terms of torque, exciting new power delivery and a richer sound from its exhaust.
The company showcased the Street Twin with 900cc engine, with a massive torque of 80bhp @3,200rpm, this is about a 18 percent increase from the previous generation. A 270 degree firing for a smooth and linear power delivery, which is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Bonneville T120 comes with 1200cc engine and features different rider modes for a better response and handling. There are fine details which have been updated, like the brushed aluminum engine covers with bronze detailing.
The company also showcased the all-new 1200c Thruxton R, a purebred Cafe Racer, it has managed to transform the original Thruxton R into a beauty with more power and performance.
Triumph have created 'inspiration' kits for the riders to customise the bikes, or they can have them fitted by the dealer as a complete set - the kits include Scramblers and Brat Trackers, to track racers and Cafe racers.
The kit also includes a full-factory Thruxton R Race performance kit for closed circuit competition.
Cruisers
UM Motorcycles launched its bike from the stable of Renegade Commando, with two other variants of the Renegade Commando; the Sport S, and the Classic.
The bike is mounted with 279cc single cylinder engine, producing 25bhp @8,000rpm and a torque of 21.8Nm @7,000rpm, the engine is mated to 6-speed gearbox.
The bike starts at Rs. 1.59 lakhs for the Renegade Commando, the Sport S is priced at 1.49 lakhs and the Classic at 1.60 lakhs, all at ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Auto Expo, which has been the mecca for automobile companies to launch, unveils or showcase their new or future products has attracted more than a lakh visitors during one of its public days.
