Yamaha has had plenty to show us today at the Auto Expo, ranging from motorcycles to concept models, some of which will launch in India in the future. But the one we'll speak about here is the Alpha, a 110cc segment scooter that was launched today.
Yamaha Alpha is an Activa and Jupiter rival unlike the Ray which goes up against models such as the Dio. Yamaha calls the Alpha an "Easy to go and high quality city mover" that easy to ride even for female riders, with easy leg reach. The scooter also offers a large 21 liter under seat storage space.
Yamaha Alpha comes with an air cooled 4 stroke 113cc engine that generates 7.1 PS power at 7500 rpm & 8.1 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission.
Alpha gets a 5.2 liter fuel tank and proves a mileage of 62 kmpl. The front suspension is a telescopic fork, while the rear gets upright type suspension.
Dimensions of Yamaha Alpha are as follows: 1795mm long; 675mm wide; 1124mm high; 775mm seat height; 1270mm wheelbase; 128mm ground clearance; The scooter weights 104 kilos.
The scooter will be available in black, gray, white, red and magenta colours. The scooter is priced at INR Rs 49,518 (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and Yamaha expects to sell as many as 200,000 unit within a year.
