Bajaj has unveiled two new motorcycles at the Auto Expo 2014. Two models which were entirely unexpected. In place of the faired version of the Pulsar 200NS that everyone was expecting Bajaj has showcased the Pulsar SS400 and Pulsar CS400.
While Bajaj has not released any info about the engine or for that matter other technical details, its well known that the engine powering these bikes are modified version of the 375cc unit found the KTM 390 Duke. In the 390 Duke this engine develops 44 HP & 35 Nm of torque and provides a top speed of 180 km.

Bajaj Pulsar CS400 & SS400 Engines
Bajaj uses a modified version of the KTM 375cc liquid cooled, single cylinder, fuel injected engine that make use of its triple spark ignition technology. Both the Pulsar CS400 & the SS400 get 6 speed transmissions.
Bajaj Pulsar CS400 & SS400 Details
Interestingly, the Pulsar CS400 gets inverted telescopic forks, but the SS400 does not. Rear mono shocks, Bybre disc brakes like in the KTM, both front and back, ABS are some of the other features that are noticeable.
Bajaj Pulsar CS400 Design
The CS400 looks like a beefier version of the 200NS, but has some features that are unique to it. Such as the all new headlamp design and a tank mounted digital speedo & gear indicator, besides the standard electronic console.
Bajaj Pulsar SS400 Design Features
We are quite familiar with the SS400's design thanks to the several spyshots of the faired 200SS. The headlight design takes cues from the KTM RC390. Bajaj has tried very hard to make the bike look overly aggressive and may have overdone it. The plastic styling bits surrounding the tank are proof of this, along with the odd looking rear mud guard come tail lamp.
Bajaj Pulsar SS400 & Pulsar CS400 Differences
Besides the obvious difference in styling a few notable changes between these two models include the straight handle bar on the C400 & clip-ons on the SS400; Metzeler tyres on the SS400 against MRF units on the CS400 and more comfortable, thicker seats on the CS400 against thin sporty ones on the SS400.
